A who’s who of entertainers are looking to make it right for Brad Pitt.
The Moneyball actor has recruited an all-star lineup including Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Dr. John and Snoop Dogg to perform at a charity gala he’s holding at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans on March 10 to benefit his Make It Right foundation, formed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as the star quotient’s concerned.
While Pitt will cohost the event with Ellen DeGeneres, among his celebrity pals due to attend and are doubling as Host Committee members are Sean Penn, Kevin Spacey, Spike Lee, Blake Lively, Djimon Hounsou, Chris and Jada Paul, Bennett Miller and Randy Jackson and Drew Brees who will be co-emceeing the musical side of the fund-raiser, which is being sponsored by the Hyatt.
Parks and Recreation funnyman Aziz Ansari is on board to headline the afterparty, which will also feature performances from Seal and Kanye West. And a team of celebrity chefs including Emeril Lagasse will craft a dinner paying tribute to the Big Easy’s long culinary tradition.
The event will raise funds for the completion of 150 sustainable homes for low-income residents in the storm-ravaged Lower Ninth Ward as well as celebrate the achievements of the charity thus far.
Taylor Kitsch will forever be Tim Riggins to us, but the Friday Night Lights actor has moved from the small screen to the big screen big leagues — first with John Carter, followed by Savages and Battleship. In the forthcoming Savages, out this summer, Taylor falls in onscreen love with luminous Gossip Girlstar Blake Lively.
Blake plays O, and she gets kidnapped early in the Oliver Stone-directed flick, Taylor tells MTV. The rest of the movie is essentially a fast-paced love triangle, Taylor explains. “Basically, these two guys that are in love with this one girl in their own way and will truly do anything for her and to get her back.”
Oh, and the movie apparently opens with an “intense” sex scene between Taylor and Blake. The scene is so steamy Taylor is skeptical the director will keep it, musing, “That opening scene, if [Oliver] keeps it that way …”
WWW.COLLIDER.COM: In Novemeber, we reported that Steven Soderbergh had left the adaptation of the 1960s spy TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and turned his attention to The Bitter Pill with Scott Z. Burns (The Informant) writing the screenplay. The Playlist now reports that the film—now titled The Side Effects—has locked down financing and cast Blake Lively, Jude Law, and Channing Tatum in the lead roles. Lively will play, “Emily Hawkins, a woman who turns to prescription meds to cope with the anxiety of the upcoming release from prison of her husband.” Tatum will play the husband and Jude Law will play Hawkins’ new psychiatrist. This will be Lively’s first film with Soderbergh, but it will be Tatum’s third collaboration with the director (Haywire and Magic Mike) and Law’s second (Contagion).
According to The Playlist, “There’s several meaty supporting roles still to be cast,” and Soderbergh plans to shoot the movie in April for a 2013 release. The Side Effects will be Soderbergh’s penultimate movie before his retirement/sabbatical. His last movie will be the Liberace biopic, Behind the Candelabra starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, will shoot this summer and be released on HBO His latest film, Haywire, opens January 20th, and his next movie, Magic Mike, opens June 27th.
As for the casting on The Side Effects, Lively did a solid supporting turn in The Town and she has the potential to give a great lead performance if she gets the right role, so hopefully this will be the one. Law is fine casting and he did good work in Contagion. It’s Tatum with whom I continue to have a problem. I still haven’t found a movie where his screen presence isn’t overshadowed by furniture. I’m hoping that streak will end since the guy isn’t going away anytime soon.
WWW.USMAGAZINE.COM: Blake Lively may have a hot and heavy love life (she dated Leonardo DiCaprio this summer and is now connected to Ryan Reynolds), but one thing she can’t be bothered with is a stylist.
“I don’t work with a stylist,” the Gossip Girl actress told Us Weekly in NYC December 9. “I just like whatever I’m feeling. Sometimes things are really beautiful, but they just don’t photograph well, and that’s that. I don’t know, I don’t really look at pictures of me when I’m in public.”
But it’s no secret that whether she’s decked out in a whimsical Chanel creation or a sleek Michael Kors sheath, the blonde beauty has no problem working the gamut of the style spectrum — a trait that’s similar to her on-screen Gossip Girl character, Serena van der Woodsen. And adding to her low-maintenance flair? Her get-up-and-go hairstyle.
“What I literally do is I just get out of the shower, put it in a ballerina bun, I dry it a little, then put it back in a ballerina bun,” she explained. “Then I take it out and it’s just wavy. So, I’m lucky that it holds that, but some days, it doesn’t look so good!”
While many stars in Hollywood may look up to Lively and her head-turning looks, the actress says she admires a different blonde in tinseltown.
“Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is just perfect looking,” Lively, 24, mused. “Whether she’s walking down the street, she looks so regal and elegant all the time and I love that.”
But besides a knack for putting together eye-catching ensembles, the star describes herself as a “persnickety baker” too, so it makes sense that the actress partnered with Sprinkles bakery in NYC to create a special cupcake of which 100 percent of proceeds would benefit Somalia.
“They’re delicious and it goes to such an incredible cause. The news as of August was, in 90 days, 29,000 children had died and 649,000 were still endangered and dying at any moment, because it’s the worst famine in 60 years,” she said. “It’s so incredibly heartbreaking and I found that it’s hard to have people just sign a check unless they get something out of that, so this is a good way to inspire people and to give back.”
As earlier mentionedBlake created recently a cake for the Sprinkles Cupcakes brand and Access Hollywood joined her. The cupcake is available at Sprinkles Cupcakes stores in January. Seems like she had lots of fun in creating this cupcake !
Blake Lively can now add baker to her list of achievements!
Earlier today, Dec. 9, the Gossip Girl star was spotted at the Lexington Avenue location of Sprinkles Cupcakes in NYC, creating her own cupcake for the brand.
“She came in with girlfriends to create it,” an eyewitness tells Life & Style.
“Blake helped design and add her own touches to it,” an insider tells Life & Style.
So what’s her cupcake going to entail?
“It’s a S’mores cupcake,” the insider reveals to Life & Style. “It features a graham cracker bottom, deep gooey chocolate, and a S’mores-like burned- marshmallowy top!”
In fact, the 24-year-old actress has even boasted about her kitchen skills.
“My real talent is cooking,” she’s said. “I’m a really incredible cook. I love to cook even more than I love to eat.”
But you’ll have to wait until January, when the cupcake makes its debut, to order Blake’s delectable treat. All proceeds go to charity and benefit Oxfam International Somalia, which helps feed children in that African nation.
