Movie News: Pride & Prejudice & Zombies

BREAKING: Blake Lively Offered The Lead In Pride Prejudice & Zombie!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a director in posession of a good screenplay must be in want of a star. Thus it is that Twitch are reporting that Craig Gillespie has offered the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies to Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively.

If she signs on it’ll be a choice starring role for the actress, who we last saw as Carol Ferris in Green Lantern (she may get to be Star Sapphire yet…) But it’s also one that’s been linked to and abandoned by a number of her peers already. First in the ring was Natalie Portman (who remains a producer), followed by Emma Stone and rumours of Scarlett Johansson and Mia Wasikowska. Did they know something Lively doesn’t yet?

The presence of Lars and the Real Girl and Fright NIght’s Gillespie at the helm (replacing David O Russell) is reassuring, but it’ll be intriguing to see what sort of film he can spin from the one-joke source novel, written by Seth Graeme-Smith (who also penned the screenplay).

If it’s passed you by so far, the book was at the vanguard of pastiche literary zom-com mash-ups that briefly crazed in bookshops a couple of years ago. P&P&Z sees Elizabeth Bennet searching for love and independence as a zombie plague erupts around her and American wildlife inexplicably starts appearing in the Berkshire countryside. It was followed by the likes of Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, and of course, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which is also heading to a cinema near you, courtesy of Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov.

Shooting on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is pencilled in for the beginning of 2012.

“débutant 1″- All the instructors “professors” were outstanding, intelligent, informed, expressive people. And what we had in class “débutant 1” Patrice was incredible, funny and full of energy not a single day he ever run out of fuel.

After the second week his words started to get welded in our brain, speciale words like “la classe écouter et répéter s’il vous plait”. He made the classes constructive and enjoyable.

All students are required to present an “exposé” in which they must speak for about 20 minutes.
The superb meals, the most interesting excursions, The school arranges a day trip to the charming hill town of St Paul de Vence where we visit the Fondation Maeght, the magnificent modern art museum. We were also encouraged to see a play, usually something by Molière in Nice. I will have the Video of the trip up soon.

When our month came to an end, everyone in my class agreed the time had gone by too fast. The fear I felt at the start of the course was replaced by a feeling of angst over having to leave.

“(VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER, France) are seated in a magnificent villa perched on a hillside on the French Riviera with a spectacular view of the Mediterranean in the distance. Despite its position in such a famed area, Villefranche has not been taken over by the 20th century. The Wall Street heavy hand have not yet reached the shores of Villefranche.  MacDonald, wall Mart, starbucks and so on. There are no huge hotels, no discos, no casinos, no shops full of luxury goods. It has retained the atmosphere of its beginnings as a 14th century free trading port, with its fishing harbor, 16th century citadel and old streets. Therein lies its charm…”

Instyle: Exclusive Interview With Blake Lively!

With her new movie Green Lantern out this month, Blake Lively chatted exclusively to InStyle about superheroes, her career and her travels!

Blake Lively talks exclusively to InStyle about her new movie Green Lantern – co-starring Ryan Reynolds – plus reveals all about her career and her travels…

Tell us about your character Carol in Green Lantern?

Carol is a really appealing character in this film, and it’s rare because you never see a female get to also be the hero. She’s not a damsel in distress. Hal [Ryan Reynolds] doesn’t swoop in and save her. Often she pushes him. He’s inherited a lot of responsibility, and he’s not sure he wants it. He’s not a superman – he’s just a man, and he has his weaknesses.

He has an incredible amount of potential, but there are certain things that life has thrown at him like the loss of his father that give him these inhibitions and she’s there to push him. But they’re also rivals in the air. They’re both fighter pilots and they battle each other.

And Hal’s completely reckless. He crashes planes, and that’s a big deal — millions of dollars worth of a big deal. He was also a little reckless with her heart. They were each other’s first love and she’s been hurt by him, but she still cares deeply for him. So, they are both rivals and compliment each other. That was a really fun thing to be able to explore with Ryan, who’s so intelligentand witty and so great to banter with, to have that sort of tension and rivalry, but also love and support.

Did you have chemistry with Ryan?

Yeah, I mean, whenever you do those screen tests, you always just say, ‘Well, there’s only so much I can do, but I hope something clicks.’ And it did. We were very lucky to be able to have that. But I can’t give too much credit to that because I’ve never met anybody who doesn’t click with Ryan. Everyone likes him.
