BLAKE LIVELY, Halle Berry and Zoe Saldana are just three of the new names to support Gucci’s Chime for Change campaign. The actresses join existing ambassadors and co-founders Beyoncé Knowles, Salma Hayek and Frida Giannini.

Other stars to lend their voice to the campaign include Katy Perry, Freida Pinto, Evan Rachel Wood, Olivia Wilde and Jada Pinkett Smith – who have all united in a new video to declare that “anything is possible for women around the world.” In the short clip, the ambassadors highlight “three of the most powerful tools a woman can have to help change the world”: education, health and justice.

Knowles reveals that she tells her daughter every day that she could be President (“I know she has no idea why I’m saying that – she’s one year old and I’m like: ‘You know you could be President’”). Berry talks about what inspires her, while Perry and Pinkett Smith praise the impact of social media, and Giannini emphasises the importance of being a role model to future generations.

The Chime for Change campaign, spearheaded by Gucci, aims to raise funds and awareness of women’s issues globally. A charity concert in aide of the project,Sound of Change Live, will be held at Twickenham Stadium on June 1.

Actress Blake Lively won over television and film audiences with her starring role on Gossip Girl and critically acclaimed performance in The Town, and her sartorial choices have landed her on many best-dressed lists and as a face of CHANEL handbags. Now that she’s purchased a home in Bedford, New York, she’s poised to bring her personality and style to the decorating world as well. An avid cook, Lively is starting the process with a top-of-the-line kitchen, and invited La Cornue President, Xavier Dupuy to the set of Gossip Girl to discuss the project. “She knew exactly what she wanted,” says Dupuy, whose grandfather founded the company over 100 years ago. Since La Cornue ovens are never mass-produced, Lively has been involved in the design of hers—from choosing colors and metals to size and functionality. “Our customer is a true gourmand,” says Dupuy, a fitting statement for Lively, whose cooking has been lauded in the press by former costars and Bedford neighbor Martha Stewart.

ELLEDECOR.com spoke to Lively about her plans for her new home.

ELLE DECOR: Congratulations on your new home. What inspired you to choose the house?

Blake Lively: Thank you. The location is great. And we loved the kitchen. It’s really the family room.

ED: You’re known for your personal style—does that influence your decor?

BL: Design, whether it’s on your body or in your home is the same thing. It’s mixing different colors, different textures, and unexpected patterns—elements that you wouldn’t often put together in an interesting way. That’s also why I look for things that you don’t see everywhere, things that are elegant. And I’m always looking for pieces that make a statement.

WWW.NORTHERNLIFE.CA – Sudbury resident Sarah Lavallee said she was nervous about meeting Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively at Health Sciences North.  Reynolds, who is married to Lively, paid a visit to Health Sciences North’s pediatric unit this past weekend. Reynolds is in town filming Atom Egoyan’s Queen of The Night.

“Ryan and Blake were both very kind to us. They introduced themselves right away and asked how my son was doing. He is only three months old, and wasn’t really able to appreciate the visit like the older children, but it’s something I can tell him about when he is older.”

She said Reynolds and Lively chatted with them and asked Lavallee how she was doing being in the hospital 24 hours a day and when her little boy might be able to go home.

“Even though he had no idea who they were, my son did give them one big smile,” she said. “It was nice to see since he wasn’t smiling a lot at that point, and I really appreciated both Ryan and Blake giving me something to smile about at such a difficult time. It was a very unexpected visit, and I thought it was especially nice of them to take pictures of me with each of them before they left.

ET’s Brooke Anderson sat down with Blake to talk about being the face of Gucci’s Première, the iconic fashion brand’s signature female fragrance, where she also opened up about some of her most talked-about style moments!

One gown in particular that sealed Blake’s status as a fashion icon was her infamous deep-plunging, body-hugging red Versace gown she sported at the 2009 Emmys, which had plenty of jaws dropping.

“Oh my gosh, that was a very tricky outfit,” Blake smiles. “I’m actually a pretty shy person and that outfit was a very daring outfit. It was a very windy day, so you have to go and feel like [and] think of somebody else. I’ve said before, I thought of Marilyn Monroe. How would she feel if she were walking out there? It’s like playing a character, and it’s so fun to wear that because that’s a dress I’d see and be like, ‘I love that. I wish I had the nerve to wear that!’ So that was an empowering look.”

Interesting enough, Blake is one of the few Hollywood starlets who doesn’t have a stylist (even more unbelievable given that she has landed such enviable fashion campaigns as Gucci and Chanel), so she shares that she’ll never feel bad about any fashion “mistakes.”

“I think that if you believe that you can’t make a mistake as long as you feel good in it, then you have a sort of freedom,” she says. “You’re never going to have 100 percent of the people loving what you wore — you’re always going to have people split on it. So as long as you look back and you said, ‘I felt really proud to wear that that night — I felt really good about myself,’ then that’s all that really matters.”

“And she just stood there and she sang and she danced and there were no big crazy stunts,” Blake went on. “I mean, they had interesting lighting and they had interesting production, but it was really her. I just thought that was amazing.”
